LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Campaign
About the Global Cancer Campaign
Our Commitments
Global Cancer Summit, Dublin
Lance Armstrong launched the LIVESTRONG 'Global Cancer Campaign' just prior to the start of the TourDown Under in Adelaide in January 2009. This campaign is being promoted worldwide by Lance's return to cycling; a campaign to make cancer a global priority.
Read Lance's account of 'Why I Ride: An Open Letter'.
The Global Cancer Campaign aims to address the global 'burden' of cancer through commitments to engage the community in cancer control, and by partnering with local organisations, corporations and world leaders.
3 major goals of the Global Cancer Campaign are:
- Together, to end the stigma of cancer (turn victims into survivors)
- Together, to build an international grass-roots movement (move cancer from isolation to collaboration)
- Together with world leaders, shift cancer from obscurity to priority.
Individuals, organisations, corporations and world leaders were urged to make, and submit, commitments to this campaign.
